Title: How Maths Makes Music Possible
School: Alphington Grammar School
Team: Alphinngton Grammar School Team 1
Category: Junior (Year 5-7)
Description: How Mathematics Makes Music Possible Music are sounds that are put together in such a way that they are pleasing to the human hear. They have a logical order and sometimes, parts of music repeat. However, in schooling, it is thought that music and math are two separate fields that have no link whatsoever, however, the reality is that mathematics makes music possible. Mathematics allows musicians to fine-tune instruments, especially the piano. Mathematics allows musicians to calculate the octave, fifth and various other harmonious notes of a certain frequency and finally, without math, music wouldn’t be applicable anywhere (music, therapy, etc.) In conclusion, without music and math, life would be a mistake.
